Suggested ways to reduce your calorie intake
Most of us tend to eat more than our body needs due to a combination of factors. This will in the long-run result in our being overweight or obese. By choosing foods with lower calories, we will be able to eat more without increasing our calorie intake beyond our daily requirement. This is the situation where larger portions of food will not be a bad idea.
For example, the original recipe for macaroni and cheese uses butter, cheese and whole milk. Using the full fat version of these ingredients you could end up with 540 calories per serving. By replacing these ingredients with non-fat or low-fat versions, and adding fresh spinach, tomatoes and other vegetables, you could end up with a healthy meal with around 300 calories per serving.
In effect, by choosing your ingredients with care, you would be eating the same amount of food, or even more, but end up taking in fewer calories. In the example above, this could be more than 200 fewer calories
Start your meals with low appetizer
There are various research that point to the fact that starting your meals with an appetizer of low calorie levels, such as vegetable soup or green salad, could help you take in fewer calories during the main meal.
While fruits and vegetables contain low levels of calories and can keep you fuller for longer periods, opting to fry any of these or adding full-fat creams could give you the opposite benefit. Thus, you can instead steam them. Adding spices and herbs can improve the flavour and taste. By selecting your herbs and spices with care, you may also help boost your body’s metabolism and help you burn more fat to help put you on the quickest way to lose weight.
